'Aarushi's body cleaned after death'

Ghaziabad, Feb. 11 -- Giving an unexpected twist to the Aarushi-Hemraj murder case, the court's Wednesday order found enough evidence in the probe agency's closure report to proceed against dentist couple Rajesh and Nupur Talwar on the charges of murder. In its order, the court gave credence to the CBI's theory that the

crime scene was heavily dressed up, which included cleaning of Aarushi's private parts. The CBI report said that no outsider would bother to stay back to dress up the crime scene.

According to the statement of Dr Sunil Dohre, who conducted Aarushi's post mortem, Aarushi's vaginal opening was large, white discharge was found inside the vaginal cavity and there were no traces of injury marks near her private parts.

He also stated that the source of the white discharge was not from inside the body but from an external source, as it was found only near the vagina. The court order stated that Dohre's statements suggested cleaning of Aarushi's private parts. The order also observed the statements of two witnesses from Noida hospital, who stated that Aarushi's private parts were unusually dilated and they had never seen such an abnormal thing during a post-mortem examination. Dohre also said that Dr Rajesh Talwar's brother, Dr Dinesh Talwar, asked him about the possibility of a rape. Dinesh also made him speak to one Dr Dogra, who asked him to take samples.

However, in his petition, Rajesh had stated that in case there was any evidence of cleaning of private parts, the doctor conducting the examination would not have omitted the same. If cleaning had happened, the doctor wouldn't have noticed the white discharge, he had said.

Unexplained findings

Dr Nupur Talwar had stated that she had gone to Aarushi's room to switch on the internet router as requested by her husband on the night of the incident. Also, she said she did not remember whether she left the key inadvertently on the door latch or kept it on a table inside her bedroom. Rajesh Talwar's statements, registered in June 2008, stated that Nupur used to check on Aarushi every day before retiring to her room and also used to keep the key in her bedroom. Aarushi's door key was later found by Tamanjeet Chaddha, a visitor to Talwar's house, who found it hanging on a frame in front of Hemraj's room. It was not traceable on May 16, 2008, and was noticed only on May 17, 2008, when the family went to Haridwar for ash immersion ritual.

The order also said that no outsider was involved as the internet router was found active till 3.43am on the night of the incident and showed switch-on and switch-off activity, which could be done either physically or in case of power failure. During probe, the electricity department denied any power failure on that night. The court said no outsider would bother to switch on or off the internet when he had entered the house for the purpose of murder.

Rajesh had stated that when Nupur had gone to Aarushi's room to switch on the internet router, she probably left the key inadvertently on the door latch. This, Dr Talwar said, have been repeatedly checked by the CBI during Nupur's scientific tests.
