Cellular Boom Sparks Search For 100-Acre Factory Site

With demand for cellular telephones soaring, Motorola issearching for a 100-acre parcel of land for an additional productionplant in the Chicago area.

The company is looking for land in the west and southwestsuburbs, apparently shunning expansion of its 1 million-square-footcellular phone manufacturing plant in Libertyville.

The company has scouted sites in Du Page, Kane and Will countiesfor a facility. It already employs 16,000 people throughout thestate, including more than 3,000 in Libertyville.
