Vic: Man found guilty of murdering woman with cricket bat
A man who confessed to bashing a young mother to death with a cricket bat but thenretracted his statement has been found guilty of murder.
A Victorian Supreme Court jury has found 30-year-old BOHDAN (Bohdan) WEISS guilty ofmurdering 27-year-old HELEN ELIZABETH GREY in 1994.
Ms GREY's battered body was discovered at her home in Doveton in East Melbourne onNovember 24, 1994.
WEISS pleaded not guilty to the murder, despite making a tearful confession to policein 2000 that he hit Ms GREY on the head once or twice with a cricket bat.
His barrister told the court he only made the confession because police worked him over.
Sentencing has been adjourned until Tuesday.
